Music is brilliant when you want to hear it, but a lot of the time it's compulsory.

Loud music in pubs put a stop to going there for a pint and a chat, saving me a lot of cash and becoming too habituated to alcohol.

Many interesting programmes on the telly, are spoiled by irritating background music, saving me from becoming a telly addict.

Music in shops has meant I can't stand it in there for long, so spend a less. TV adverts have inane music that puts me right off buying the stuff, again saving money.

Altogether, music has been a powerful force for good in my life.

Music is so often used t cover up a lack of ideas! By itself it can be brilliant, but above all why does it always have to be turned up sooooooooooo LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with all of the above, BUT, when you want to listen what would be your choice, there's nothing I like better than when all the little 'uns are in bed than getting on Spotify, surfing and listening to a track of my choice.

I try to put everything into perspective
Set it against the scale of human suffering
And I thought of the Mugabe government
And the children of the Calcutta railways
This works for a while
But then I encounter Primark FM
Overhead a rainbow appears
In black and white
