The area round Adamroyd mill, where Victoria Road meets Burnley Road looks a bit like a disaster zone as mill demolition has started, plus other works going on, with roads dug up, gas, electric and traffic disrupted.

It's a huge mill, covering quite a big area, is it all being demolished ?

Thanks Poppy. It's difficult to imagine all that flattened, so you will be able to see to Victoria Road from the Weavers Pub?

I hate to say it, but I hope they'll soon put new housing/boxes on there! Tod already has too many derelict sites and we don't really need another one!
Yet another piece of the town's industrial heritage bites the dust!!

Or just flatten it, throw down some grass seeds, and let IET on. Why haven't they done that down Halifax Road? Nothing's going to happen there in the near future so why not let the kids have space to run about and the rest of us have a nice view of the canal?

I've thought that about Halifax Road for months. It would be wonderful going into the Health Centre and looking down on greenery, not a barren wasteland! Growing vegetables in the 'shadow' of Stoodly Pike, it's a great image.

Very interesting link Rhubarb! But as for plans, from what I remember from a couple of years back the then developer was intending to build yet more of those 'boxes with 'integral garages', you know the ones where you can (if you are very careful) drive your car in, but you can't actually open the car doors wide enough to get out! They are also brilliant, not, for disabled people when you have to get up a flight of stairs to get into your home, so much for building 'accessible homes'!
There still should be something on the Calderdale Council website about the approved plans for the site, but in the current economic climate they may well not happen for quite a while!
