Did anyone take part in the organised walk through the tunnel just before it reopened? I missed it but having spent years going to Manchester by train through the tunnel I wish I hadn't!

Great pics LDH, where did you find them?
I have certificate somewhere stating that I did complete that walk through the tunnel, it was either Rotary or the Round Table that organised it, Ialso have a bit of vitrified melted brick from the tunnel wall.

I took the photographs directly off the TV on the evening the fire happened, and thankfully they worked. I came across them when sorting some papers out and thought they should see the light of day!
It was the Round Table that organised the walk - whatever happened to them???

That's brought back some memories Dave. Dec 1984. Was supposed to be going to Manchester that night on my works Christmas do. Had to be diverted. I remember that day, the whole of Tod was thick with smoke and fumes. Weird.

i was in the junior school where they evacuated locals too it was weird for sure.
is that a chevette police car in the background wasnt so long ago was it?

I was on that incident, what a Christmas that was. The pictures from inside are spectacular, unfortunatly they belong to another firefighter so I cannot publish them.
